Summary
The Recruiter & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process and leading a seamless onboarding experience for new hires. This role partners closely with hiring managers and People Operations to attract, assess, hire, and successfully integrate top talent into Ascendco Health.This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, improving processes, and creating an excellent candidate and employee experience.

Chicago: 4 days a week in office/ 1 day a week remote
Key Responsibilities

- Own full-cycle recruiting for assigned roles, including intake meetings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer coordination, and closing candidates
- Partner with Admin Team to understand role requirements, timelines, and success profiles
- Develop and post job descriptions aligned with Ascendco Health’s values and hiring needs
- Source candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, referrals, and other creative channels
- Conduct phone and video screenings to assess skills, experience, and culture add
- Coordinate interviews, gather feedback, and guide hiring decisions
- Maintain accurate candidate records in the applicant tracking system (ATS)
- Ensure an inclusive, equitable, and compliant hiring process

- Lead end-to-end onboarding for new hires, from offer acceptance through initial ramp-up
- Coordinate with Admin team to complete pre-boarding tasks, including background checks, paperwork, and system access
- Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a smooth first-day experience
- Act as a primary point of contact for new hires during their first weeks
- Continuously improve onboarding processes based on feedback and best practices

- Manage vendor credentialing for employees working onsite in hospital environments, ensuring requirements are completed prior to site entry
- Coordinate initial credentialing setup and support ongoing renewals and compliance throughout an employee’s time at Ascendco
- Serve as the primary point of contact for credentialing platforms and hospital access processes
- Introduce new hires to required onboarding resources, including internal documentation, application learning expectations, and training competency tracking
- Partner with Education, Operations, and the CSM team to ensure employees understand expectations for onsite readiness and professional conduct
- Maintain accurate credentialing and readiness documentation in internal systems

- Track and report on recruiting and onboarding metrics (time-to-fill, candidate experience, new hire retention)
- Identify opportunities to improve recruiting workflows and onboarding programs
- Support employer branding initiatives and candidate experience enhancements
- Collaborate with Admin Team on policies, compliance, and employee lifecycle initiatives
- Track and report on onboarding and credentialing progress to ensure employees remain ready for onsite access
- Identify opportunities to improve credentialing workflows and ongoing employee readiness support
Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR
- Experience managing full-cycle recruiting across multiple roles
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with ATS platforms and HR systems

- Experience in healthcare, health tech, or regulated environments
- Experience supporting onboarding or employee lifecycle programs
- Knowledge of employment laws and hiring best practices
- Passion for creating a positive, inclusive employee experience
- Familiarity with hospital vendor management systems (e.g., Vendormate, Symplr, GHX)
